Javagal Srinath, (born 31 August 1969) is a former Indian cricketer and currently an ICC Match referee. He is considered among India’s finest fast bowlers, and is the first Indian fast bowler to take more than 300 wickets in One day Internationals.
Srinath was a frontline fast bowler for the Indian cricket team until his retirement, and the second Indian pace bowler (after Kapil Dev) to take 200 Test wickets. After Dev, he led the Indian fast-bowling attack for over 9 years. Srinath is India’s second-highest ODI wicket-taker with 315 (second to Anil Kumble’s 337), and the first bowler to take 300 ODI wickets for India.
He took 44 wickets in the 1992, 1996, 1999 and 2003 Cricket World Cups. Srinath is the joint highest wicket-taker for India in World Cup competition with Zaheer Khan who took the same number of wickets in the 2003, 2007 and 2011 tournaments. He is the leading wicket-taker at Sharjah, where he took 39 wickets. Srinath is one of eleven bowlers who took 300 wickets in one-day international cricket, and the only Indian fast bowler to take 300 wickets.
Srinath retired from international cricket after the 200s World Cup in South Africa.
M.S. Thejkumar, GM, (Live Rating 2500) is the first Grand Master from Karnataka. He achieved his remaining 1.60 ELO points taking part in the FOMENTO All India FIDE rating chess tournament 2017 in Goa on 6.9.17. He becomes India’s 50th Grand Master. An employee of South Western Railways (Mysore), he was part of the Indian Railway team which won the gold in the World Railway championship. He is the only Karnataka player to win the National ‘B’ title. An Ekalavya award winner, Thejkumar won the Dhamso International chess festival title in the tournament held at Sri Lanka from 27th April to 3rd May 2017 and also finished second in the International chess tournament held in France recently. Thejkumar won the 8th Kandy Open International Rated chess tournament 2017 at Polgolla, Kandy from 25-30th August by securing 10 points from 11 rounds. Earlier, Thejkumar had also won the Sri Lanka Open International rating chess championship 2017, held at Kurunegala, near Colombo, from 7-11th August 2017 by securing 10 points from 10 rounds.
Girish A Koushik: The former World U-10 chess champion is from this city. He is the third Grand Master from Karnataka. He became India’s 63rd Grand Master in June 2109. He also won the Asian under-13 championship and is a Commonwealth medalist. A Grand Master, Girish Koushik finished third in the Chess Mine Open FIDE rated rapid chess tournament 2017 at Bengaluru in August 2017.

Prajwal Dev, ranked No.1 in Karnataka in the men’s singles category,
has been making steady progress by improving his rankings in the
International level. Taking part in the Eqypt tournament, Prajwal Dev
and Adil Kalyanpur in the third leg of the tournament held from 1-7th April
2019, beat Nikolas Guttan & Lucas (Ger) 7-5, 6-0 to enter the quarter-finals.
In the quarter-finals the duo beat Giovani Samahal (Leb) & Robert Strombache 7-6 (5), 7-5. In the semi-finals, Marek Jalovic & Lukas Klein beat Prajwal Dev & Adil Kalyanpur 6-4, 6-4 to move to the title round. beat S.Robert and Kai Wehneit of Germany 6-2, 6-3 to progress to the title round.
Prajwal ranked 684 in the ITF World tennis ranking and 1050 in the ATP singles ranking. He has been taking part in the ITF tournaments in India and abroad from time to time and has been
making steady progress.
Prajwal Dev, 25 year old, a product of the Mysore Tennis Club, Mysuru, is
talented and intends to work hard in the days to come to increase his

Suraj R Prabodh, 26, is a tennis player from Mysore who has a current ITF ranking of 1391 (June 2021) in singles and 1481 in ATP singles. A product of the Mysore Tennis Club, Mysore, has a good allround game and is ranked No.2 in the state in the men’s section. He had a career high ranking of 650 in the ATP singles and 531 in the ITF singles ranking.
